スイスを本拠にヨーロッパで活躍する青木美樹、こだわりのコダーイ作品集コダーイは友人のバルトークやドホナーニのようなピアノの凄腕でなかったせいか、ポピュラーになったピアノ作品がなく、録音も多くありません。しかし、ふたりのどちらとも異なる独特な作風を示し、貴重なピアノ・レパートリーと申せましょう。オーケストラ曲として知られる「マロシュセーク舞曲」と「ガラーンタ舞曲」はオリジナルのピアノ版で、いわゆる編曲物ではありません。オーケストラ版と異なるすっきりした響きが新鮮。また最初期のエレガントな「小ワルツ」、ドビュッシーの影響が興味深い「9つのピアノ小品」、「ドビュッシーの主題による瞑想曲」など親しみやすく楽しい曲が多いのも特徴。また、多くがバルトークやドホナーニほどの技巧を要求しないので、教材としてもうってつけです。青木美樹は東京生まれ。9歳で渡英、その後インディアナ大学、イェール大学大学院、ハンブルグ音楽演劇大学にてジェルジ・シェベック、ボリス・ベルマン、コロリオフらに師事。2004年イタリア、イブラ国際コンクールを皮切りに、さまざまなコンクールに優勝および入賞。スイスを本拠として国際的に活躍する実力派。シェベックゆずりのハンガリー節も聴きもの。今後要注目の逸材です。
